As the World Neglected Tropical Disease Day is being marked globally, Sightsavers a reputable Non Governmental Organization whose objective is the eradication of the five main NTDs, including river blindness and trachoma, has stated that, "Nigeria can proudly celebrate the huge progress it is making in eliminating these disabling and life-threatening conditions.  In a statement signed by Joy Tarbo, Communications Associate, Sightsavers, she disclosed that, "These include lymphatic filariasis (LF), is a disease which makes people’s body parts to swell painfully. In arms and legs, this is called lymphoedema or elephantiasis, and in men’s scrotum, it is known as hydrocele. Both can lead to stigma and cost the ability to work, farm and live independently. This is as the deal will deliver tangible benefits for Nigerian businesses, professionals, and workers.
