FMITI, States To Accelerate Industrialization, Drive Nigeria's Economic Transformation

FG Commissions Edo Veterinary Hospital To Boost Livestock, Food Security

FG has commissioned the Aviele Model Veterinary Hospital in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State as part of ongoing efforts to modernize veterinary healthcare delivery, strengthen livestock productivity, and enhance food security across Nigeria. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Minister of Livestock Development,  Idi Mukhtar Maiha, described the facility as a major milestone in the Federal Government's livestock transformation agenda under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Minister stated that the state-of-the-art veterinary hospital was constructed through the World Bank-assisted Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) to improve access to quality animal healthcare services while boosting livestock production and economic development. Nigeria has recorded significant progress in strengthening its veterinary services and animal health systems, according to preliminary findings presented to the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) Performance of Veterinary Services (PVS) Follow-Up (FU) Mission. The PVS-FU Mission forms part of Nigeria's broader efforts to benchmark its Veterinary Services against international standards and advance the Federal Government's vision of building a modern, productive and globally competitive livestock sector. The Director General of Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi has stated that,  "We want Nigeria to be a hydrogen hub where we cannot just utilise, but export to other African countries. The ECN Boss stated this in Abuja at the opening of a three-day summit on Low-Carbon Hydrogen Economy organised by the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) and the European Union (EU). Dr Mustapha Abdullahi who explained that the global hydrogen market was predicted to reach 50 billion dollars in the coming decades, said  that Nigeria should leverage its massive natural gas reserves to produce blue hydrogen and create a new economic opportunity while working toward cleaner alternatives.
