2023 Presidency Ohanaeze Seeks Support Of North, Earmark N10b To Support Igbo Candidate.

The support for a presidential candidate of Igbo extraction seems to have reached an appreciation level as Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has visited the northern part of the country to solicit for the region's support.

This move,  the Ohaneze Ndigbo said  is to curry the support of the north to support in ensuring that Igbo Candidate emerges as the next President of Nigeria.

According to the Secretary-General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worlwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro who disclosed this during a visit with in Kaduna,  when he led other executives on an advocacy visit to leadership of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF).

Isiguzoro said “Ohanaeze has mapped out N10bn to support any of our candidates that emerge from whichever party be it APC or PDP”.

According to him, “We decided that, the best thing we do is to interface with the north , the north with the population and vast majority will always play the role of kingmaker being a deciding factor in 2023 Presidency”.

“We just opened channel of communication so that we can rather than abusive words in the dailies, we decided to extend the hands of friendship.

He explained that building on the relationship that existed between the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and counterparts from the North, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Sir Ahmadu Bello, they decided the best thing they can do is to interface.

“Where did we got it wrong, What happened, what transpired ? Is it because one person somewhere decided to paint the Igbo’s as if we are Biafrans. We believed in one Nigeria”.

“We know, the North with population always play role of kingmaker in Nigeria. We have met some traditional rulers and religious leaders”.

He noted that ” the vast majority population of Igbo’s are residing in 19 northern states, we have about 2.3 Trillion worth of investment in northern Nigeria, the Igbo’s have a lot of investment in the north and that is why we came to dialogue on the way forward regarding 2023″.

“We believe in one Nigeria, we are persuading our brothers to support us we are not expecting any response from them now let them go and think about it”.

He also explained that, the Igbo’s have vast of material resources that can succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in terms of competency, he said.

He said “We are preparing to declare our Son Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi very soon”.

“We have people who are ready to serve Nigeria and what we are begging the north is to come and look at the individuals and not the region, people who are ready to serve Nigeria, people who are ready to salvage the image of Nigeria”

“We need someone who can unite Nigerians. We need support. We want them to look at competency. We have many candidate. We have Amaechi, Okorocha, Umahi, Peter Obi and others committed to serve Nigeria, we have them in abundance”.

Responding, the President Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Comrade Yerima Shettima said ” We will go back to discuss with our people.

He said ” I believe in younger generation and competency , let us showcase our best “.

He also urged the Igbo Kinsmen to address the excesses going on in the region, he said.

In his entourage on the visit, include; Mazi Ogbonna Obasi Ohanaeze Imo State President, Michael Agbo FCT Chapter, Engineer Precious Okpara Coordinator Northern State, Mazi Emmanuel, Niger State and Mazi Michael Ugwuanyi, Nasarawa State.
