Newly Elected Chairman Of AMAC Donates Borehole To NUJ FCT Chapter.

Chairman-Elect of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, has donated a borehole to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council.

This is in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration with the media and promoting grassroots development.

The donation was announced on Thursday when the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, paid him a congratulatory courtesy visit following his victory in last Saturday’s municipal elections. 

She was represented by the Council’s Vice Chairman, Yahaya Ndambabo.

Speaking during the visit, Ndambabo expressed appreciation for the warm reception and described the borehole donation as a clear demonstration of the chairman-elect’s commitment to both grassroots development and constructive media partnership.

He congratulated Maikalangu on what he termed a well-deserved landslide victory, noting that the electoral outcome reflected the confidence reposed in him by residents of AMAC.

Ndambabo also referenced key infrastructural projects executed during Maikalangu’s first term, particularly in Sabon Lugbe and other communities, while reaffirming the NUJ FCT Council’s role in providing professional coverage and monitoring of elections across AMAC and the five other area councils in the FCT.

"This well-deserved victory reflects your people-oriented leadership, now further demonstrated by this generous donation to the NUJ FCT Council,” Ndambabo said, urging the chairman-elect to consolidate on his achievements in his second term.

In his remarks, Maikalangu thanked the NUJ FCT Council for the visit and for its consistent media support, attributing his re-election to sustained grassroots engagement, infrastructure development and empowerment initiatives.

“Politics is local; it is about the people at the grassroots, not just the city centres,” he said, adding that his administration’s first-term projects laid the foundation for renewed public trust.

He further commended the unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that strong grassroots mobilisation contributed significantly to the high voter turnout recorded in the elections.

The chairman-elect noted that the borehole donation underscores his commitment to inclusive development and sustained engagement with critical stakeholders, particularly the media.

ExxonMobil Visits NUPRC, Considers FID On $8bn Owowo Project Early Next Year
