Attention: RECRUITMENT SCAM: NUPRC WARNS GENERAL PUBLIC

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) wishes to alert the general public about the proliferation of fake and AI generated employment letters bearing the names of persons unknown to the Commission.

In a Press Statement signed by Eniola Akinkuotu. Head, Media and Corporate Communications of the Commission on August 11, 2026.

 It stated that, "Reports reaching the NUPRC also suggest that some unscrupulous and criminal elements have been extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public under the pretext of helping them to secure employment at the Commission.

"While the NUPRC has reported the activities of these criminal elements to law enforcement agencies and awaits an outcome of investigation, members of the public are advised to be circumspect so they don’t fall victim.T

"The NUPRC states categorically that there is no ongoing recruitment exercise at the Commission. 

"However, when the Commission does decide to recruit, it will be done strictly in line with the extant laws and government regulations. The statement reads

ExxonMobil Visits NUPRC, Considers FID On $8bn Owowo Project Early Next Year

Following a high-level discussions with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) in Abuja, ExxonMobil has signalled plans to take a final investment decision (FID) on its $7bn–$8bn Owowo deepwater project as early as next year.  in a statement by Eniola Akinkuotu, Head Media and Corporate Communications, he stated that indication emerged during a visit by ExxonMobil executives to the Commission’s headquarters, where the company briefed regulators on its renewed multi-billion-dollar investment pipeline in Nigeria’s offshore sector.
