FG Flag-Off Dualisation Of The Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road.


The Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to delivering critical road infrastructure capable of driving economic growth, improving connectivity and enhancing the quality of life of Nigerians.

The Minister stated this on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the flag-off ceremony for the dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road, held at the Idi Ayunre axis of the road in Oyo State.

Goronyo described the project as a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to upgrade the nation’s road infrastructure and provide efficient transportation corridors that will facilitate the movement of people, goods and services across the country.

He said the dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road would have far-reaching economic benefits for Oyo and Ogun States, particularly by improving inter-state connectivity, reducing travel time, enhancing road safety and opening up greater opportunities for trade, investment and employment.

According to him, the project is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which places infrastructure development at the centre of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the national economy and improve the wellbeing of citizens.

"The central train of development is moving fast under our progressive banner,” The Minister said.

He noted that the strategic importance of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode corridor could not be overemphasised, considering its role in connecting major communities and supporting commercial activities across the South-West and beyond.

Goronyo commended the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for his leadership and commitment to ensuring that critical road projects across the country receive the necessary attention and are delivered to standard.

He also commended the Oyo and Ogun State Governments, traditional institutions, contractors, engineers and other stakeholders for their cooperation and support towards the successful commencement of the project.

The Minister stressed that the Federal Government would continue to collaborate with state governments and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that road infrastructure projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably and in accordance with the needs of the people.

He further assured Nigerians that the Ministry of Works remained committed to expanding and rehabilitating the nation’s road network as part of efforts to boost economic activities, strengthen national integration and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

The dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road is expected to significantly improve transportation between Oyo and Ogun States, enhance the movement of agricultural and commercial products, reduce congestion and travel time, and strengthen economic activities along the corridor.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja; the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun; the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, contractors, engineers and other stakeholders.
